I pulled out my Jardin Skirt again for more of a casual spin and I liked the results better than last time. There is something so careless (read: easy, fun, etc.) about a basic fitted tee with a less fitted bottom:

On another note, I took my oldest to an ortho consult last week. Last year our dentist highly suggested said consult so I boosted my flexible spending account contributions this year knowing that we would be forking out mucho denero for braces. Long story short, the orthodontist says it will be another 1 – 2 years before the braces actually go on. Now what do I do with all that money!? We’re done having kiddos so it’s not like I can wipe out my account delivering a bambino. Don’t you worry, our orthodontist quickly asked, “Have YOU ever thought about braces?” Ouch. Yes, yes I have, but MY consult stated three years… THREE YEARS I TELL YOU!! Well, this guy says, “No way, I’ll have you in and out of them in 18 months…” Yikes, I still don’t love the idea. I’ve gone this long without them and my vanity makes it hard to want to have a mouth full of metal at my age. My bottom teeth are slightly crowded, but I don’t smile showing them anyway. What are your thoughts? Would YOU get braces around 30?!?

I was just recently left thinking about this last week- should I shouldn't I? Another option is invisalign, it's pretty expensive though. He didn't give me a quote on the braces but the invisalign is going to run about $5,000.
I'm struggling with the same decision. I want perfect teeth but I really hate the thought of braces for 12-18 months.

I've had braces 3 times and let me tell you, they suck! However, to put it in perspective, 18 months of not looking your 110% best vs. looking 110% the rest of your life is a pretty small time frame when you think about it. Plus, your hubs and kids are going to love you no matter what you do. So, if your teeth don't bother you that much now, then skip it. If they've always been a nagging issue in the back of your mind, get it out of the way.
I don't know much about Invisalign, but that might be a good option too. Good luck!

I like this casual look, too! So I went back into orthodontics in my 30's ... I just couldn't do the mouth full of metal, and went with Invisalign. I loved that it was much more discrete, but being able to remove them was problematic, because I had a hard time disciplining myself to wear them the total time I was supposed to. Also, I think the total treatment time was probably longer with Invisalign than it would have been in traditional braces. In hindsight, I might have gone with the ceramic brackets and regular wire.
Love the more casual version!! As far as braces go, I think 18 months will fly by before you know it!
